Voice, performance, texts.
Born 1955. Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg develops vocal improvisation and voice extended techniques : jodels, deep throat singing, falsetto, mouth noises, imaginary languages, etc… He coined the word « phonoetry » (phonésie in french) to describe the kind of poésie sonore in his solo voice performance « ORYNX ».
Solo voice performances in London, Lille, Nitra /Slovakia, Liège, Brno, Budapest, Gent, Rotterdam, Hannover and Brussels.
Along the years worked extensively with Inaudible Collective since 1984, as a guitar player and switched gradually to vocals from 1996 onwards and focused on interactive and collective free improvisation as a vocalist.
